Unlike a conventional outdoor roller shade with freely hanging fabric, StarLock continuously captures the screen’s welded ZIP edges within aluminum side channels.

Yes. Each system is manufactured according to the dimensions and specifications of the individual opening.

What makes a ZIP screen different from a normal roller shade?

A traditional roller shade typically allows the fabric edges to hang freely. StarLock™ ZIP retention captures the fabric edges within aluminum side channels, providing continuous guidance and retention from top to bottom.

Can I still see outside?

Yes. Solar screen fabrics can provide outward visibility while reducing solar exposure and glare. Visibility varies according to fabric color, openness, and lighting conditions.

Do they help with insects?

The retained side edges help minimize the open gaps normally found along conventional outdoor roller shades, creating a more enclosed outdoor environment. They do not form a completely insect-proof seal.

Are they motorized?

Yes. Motorized operation is available and is a preferred configuration for many large outdoor installations.

How large can they be?

StarShades are engineered for substantial openings. Maximum dimensions depend on the selected fabric, operating system, installation conditions, and width-to-height relationship. Final sizing is determined during project specification.

Can several shades operate together?

Compatible motorized systems can be configured for individual or grouped operation.

What colors are available?

Multiple screen and hardware colors are available. The hardware palette includes White, Light Gray, Champagne, Coffee, Dark Gray, and Black. Physical samples establish the final color selection.
